Michael Hendricks
Michael Hendricks joins ReGeneration Schools as the Chief Academic Officer, committed to the mission of providing scholars with the highest-quality education to set them on a path to and through college. A graduate of Georgetown University, he holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from American University and a Master’s in Public School Building Leadership from Columbia University’s Teachers College.
With over 20 years of experience in some of the nation’s highest-performing charter school organizations, Michael has taught and led students across grades K-12. His expertise spans both school start-ups and turnarounds, consistently driving academic and school culture excellence.
Before joining ReGeneration Schools, Michael served as a Regional Superintendent at Achievement First, overseeing schools across multiple states. As a cohort lead, he spearheaded the COVID reopening strategy, improved teacher retention to 87%, and accelerated student achievement in math and ELA. As the Founding Principal of AF Apollo Middle School, he led transformative academic growth—raising math and ELA proficiency rates by 38% and 44%, respectively. His 8th grade students ranked 12th out of 2,035 schools in New York State, with 96% of students achieving proficiency in math and 89% in ELA, outperforming state non-low income averages by more than 10%.
Michael is excited to bring his experience and passion for academic excellence to ReGeneration Schools, supporting principals and senior leaders in implementing a rigorous and impactful academic program and joyful school culture for students.
