Shavon Mathus-Harris

Shavon was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago and is a graduate of DePauw University with a background in Education Studies and Psychology. After undergrad at DPU, Shavon went on to complete her Master of Arts in Teaching with Relay Graduate School of Education in New York. While completing her Master program, Shavon taught at Excellence Girls, a Blue Ribbon school, under the Uncommon Schools network in Brooklyn and served as an Instructional Leader. Following her career in New York, Shavon transitioned to school leadership in Chicago. She has operated as a Dean of Culture, Assistant Principal, and Principal for the past few years and is extremely passionate about working with young scholars from the South Side of Chicago. Shavon is excited to serve the students, families, and staff of CICS Avalon!
