Lori Flood, Chief Operating Officer. Lori is a Chicago native, born and raised on the Southwest side. Her experience as a young volunteer with the Chicago Park District's special recreation program first sparked Lori's passion for supporting and serving diverse learners with special needs. This passion led Lori to Loyola University Chicago where she majored in Special Education and Psychology. After earning her Bachelor's degree, Lori entered the education field as a Special Education Teacher in a Therapeutic Day School in Chicago. For 8 years, Lori served a diverse population of students with Learning Disabilities and Emotional Disorders; she did this in both the capacity of Teacher and Academic Coordinator.
In 2005, Lori joined the Chicago International Charter School (CICS) network as the Case Manager and Student Services Team Leader at the CICS Basil Campus. Here she led the special education eligibility and service processes, as well as coordination of the then called Response to Intervention (RTI) program. Over time, Lori's talent began to expand with supporting other CICS campuses in a new role as the Regional Director of Student Services. In doing this work, Lori connected deeply to issues of educational opportunity and quality school choice for students and families in Chicago's West Englewood community.
In 2010, Lori earned her Master's in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education. After doing so, she returned to CICS Basil as the Assistant Principal and eventually transitioned into the Director of Operations. In this role, Lori focused on removing operational barriers to learning, thus allowing principals and teachers to focus on what’s most important in schools – teaching and learning, and educational outcomes for young people. With a track record of operational excellence and the systematizing of key operations, Lori was promoted to Chief Operations Officer in 2018.
Lori now leads School Operations for six schools in Chicago and one school in ReGeneration's newest region, Cincinnati. Together with four campus based Directors of Operations, Lori leads a service-oriented team in pursuit of ReGeneration Schools’ mission: to ensure that all children have equal access to high quality, college-preparatory education through academic excellence and the content of their character.
